The first hull of\u00a0CL Yachts’ 29.5-metre\u00a0CLX96\u00a0has been sold and renamed\u00a0Reunion<\/em>, with David Johnson of\u00a0Denison Yachting\u00a0representing the buyer and Panu Virtanen of CL Yachts representing the seller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivered in 2022, the GRP motor yacht was designed by\u00a0Jozeph Forakis\u00a0\u2013 an award-winning industrial designer \u2013 with naval architecture by\u00a0Alfaro Design. CL Yachts was set up in 2017 as a brand of the Chinese shipyard\u00a0Cheoy Lee\u00a0to appeal to the design-savvy clientele of the new generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The broker said that Forakis has created a “rugged and unique profile” and is “reinventing the luxury motor yacht to offer complete freedom and versatility without compromising on style and performance”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accommodation for eight guests is provided in four cabins on the lower deck, comprising a full-beam master stateroom with skylight forward, a VIP suite with “virtual” skylight and two guest cabins. There are quarters for a crew of three in two cabins.<\/p>\n\n\n

Entering the saloon from the aft deck \u2013 which is the prime al fresco dining area \u2013 there are long sightlines through the open-plan dining area, galley and “champagne lounge” seating with views ahead. Thanks to the use of carbon fibre, the structural beams and window mullions are small and allow for natural light through the expanses of glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On deck, there are two distinct social areas forward, named the “Terrazza Portoghese” \u2013 or Portuguese bridge \u2013 and the “Piazza del Sole” – or “sun square” – which is a circular seating zone forward, whose seats easily convert to loungers. Aft, twin stairs lead down to a large swim platform, which in turn has another fold-out “Z-lift” platform, with the whole area clad in teak. This can be used to launch and retrieve the tender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 170GT, RINA-classed yacht is powered by twin 1,900hp Caterpillar diesel engines, giving her a cruising speed of 22 knots and a maximum speed of 25 knots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
