Balance and Surface

The CLX96 by CL Yachts is an admirable combination of technological innovation and visionary nautical design. Inside, the spaces designed by Jozeph Forakis skilfully make the most of Fenix by Arpa Industriale. This unique material, being anti-fingerprint and allowing the thermal repair of superficial micro-scratches, is ideal for the interiors of boats, guaranteeing both beauty and function. The eclectic nature and sturdiness of Fenix allow for the creation of a fluid and curvaceous ambience that respects the challenging structural requirements of boats, while maintaining a sense of freedom and interacting with natural light. A spacious, sophisticated and comfortable environment came to life. With his work on board, the aim of Forakis is not to simply transfer the concepts of a luxury apartment to a marine setting, but rather to design a space that, thanks to the use of natural light, allows guests to establish a connection with the environment. “Studying the interior design of a yacht is a matter of balance, of conciliation,” explains the designer. “One needs to respect the extremely strict demands of this enclosed space, creating at the same time a sense of freedom, openness and stability that makes people feel relaxed and safe. I chose Fenix because I wanted to achieve this balance through the creation of a controlled flow”. The ability to curve the material around elements, for example the kitchen island, and to have a seamless design, favour fluidity of movement while maintaining structural solidity thanks to the strength of the material. According to Forakis, natural light and Fenix are the key elements of the project. “Natural light plays a fundamental role, as does the matt nature of Fenix, which leaves the gaze undisturbed and allows the surrounding environment to be appreciated to the full”.
