CL Yachts’ Flagship Explorer CLX96 About to Launch
CL Yachts has announced the impending launch of its first CLX96 Sea Activity Vessel (SAV). The 29m motor yacht, promising a ‘modern take on rugged luxury’, is set to launch next month ahead of her debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this October.
Having already received various awards for her design and features, the completion of the first CLX96 will mark a significant milestone for family-owned yard CL Yachts.
Martin Lo, CL Yachts Director, commented on what this means for the business:
‘The CLX96 showcases the expert knowhow of CL Yachts and represents our brand value. In order to be competitive in today’s market, you need to be daring, and we believe that the CLX96 is a bold challenge of the status quo in its category.’
The crossover design of the CLX96 sees the seamless tessellation of luxury features with explorer capabilities. Clean, fluid lines lead into adventurous proportions and an open plan deck layout. Sprung from the drawing boards of designer Jozeph Forakis, Albert Horsmon and Earl Alfaro provided structural engineering and naval architecture support respectively.
Described as ‘workboat chic’, the split-level reverse-angle deckhouse uses angled windows to maximise volume and reduce glare and heat. The yacht’s plumb bow meanwhile makes more room for accommodation, with the added benefit of increased hydrodynamic efficiency.
Vast windows and bi-fold doors serve to amplify the seamless indoor-outdoor feel onboard the CLX96. Remarkably for a yacht of this size, the CLX96 offers a choice of interesting outdoor spaces, such as the ‘Terrazza Portoghese’ forward of the Sky Lounge, and the ‘Piazza del Sole’ seating and sunning area on the foredeck.
Four guest and two crew cabins are located on the lower deck, complete with Master Suite with its own skylight.
‘This is a yacht with substance, heart and soul built into it,’ adds Martin Lo. ‘Rather than being flashy and obvious, the SAV will appeal to understated and discerning buyers who appreciate the essence of a well-designed vessel that offers beauty from within as well as from the outside.’
CL Yachts specialises in fibreglass construction, building a dedicated mould for its newest flagship the CLX96. The yard quite literally wrote the rule book on fibreglass build, having assisted Lloyd’s Register in developing the guidelines for its use in shipbuilding.
Blending seaworthiness with performance, the CLX96 will be able to reach a predicted top speed of 27 knots and cruising speed of 22 knots.
We look forward to bringing readers more updates as this landmark project nears completion.
