CL Yachts Launching New 65 Family Cruiser
CL Yachts, the luxury brand from Cheoy Lee Shipyards, is expanding its B Series of family-friendly cruisers.
A freshly designed CLB88 was on display at the Miami show last month, and the Hong Kong-based company just announced that its brand-new CLB65 will be ready for its debut at the Newport International Boat Show in September.
The 88 is notable for its design. Indeed, it won a Good Design award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. The new 65, designed by veteran naval architect Howard Apollonio with Interiors by Carmen, will try to follow that success.
A flybridge motor yacht, the 65 is the smallest in CL Yachts’ B series, and is specifically designed for an owner-operator. It has three staterooms and three full heads below, with standard power coming from twin 800-hp Volvo IPS1050 pod drives. Volvo’s Docking Assist Program is optional; the yacht comes with a standard fin stabilizer.
All that means that it should be easy to maneuver and dock, and that it should be comfortable on board at the same time. Top speed is estimated at 27 knots.
The new 65 has many lounging areas, and its expansive windows create a sense of openness in the salon. The windows open on the port side, and there’s a flip-up window on the aft bulkhead by the galley so it can open to the cockpit.
The cockpit has a four-person settee aft with a large table, and steps on the starboard side lead down to the oversized swim platform. At the other end of the yacht, the foredeck has a three-person settee under the windshield, and a large sun pad forward
Up top, the flybridge has two helm seats on the starboard side, with a U-shaped lounge to port. A bar and outdoor cooking area and an L-shaped settee and table are aft.
The full-beam master is amidships on the accommodation deck, with a king-sized bed, walk-in closet and an en suite head with a double vanity and large shower. The VIP cabin is forward with windows on both sides; the third cabin is to port with two berths.
