CL Yachts offers video tour of new CLX96

CL Yachts, the yacht building division of Hong Kong’s legendary boat builder Cheoy Lee, has just released a video highlighting some of the design details of its much-anticipated CLX96.

The 29.5-metre yacht is to be powered by twin Cat C32 engines, and it is expected to have a top speed of 27 knots on a planing hull design. The CLX96 will have a cruising speed of 22 knots and a range of over 550 nautical miles at cruising speed. The hull is RINA certified and comes with a 10-year warranty. Forward-facing windows on the main deck should open more space and improve visibility.

Perhaps one of the most intriguing features is the extended beach club platform, which promises a full day of fun when at anchor.

The first images of the CLX96 were released in late last year.

The new yacht promises a bold departure for CL Yachts, which was established in 2018 and has re-invigorated yacht building at Cheoy Lee.

Cheoy Lee built sailing yachts popular in Hong Kong during the 1960s and 70s. Though the yard become more focused on commercial boat building, Cheoy Lee built expedition yachts, most notably the 45-metre expedition yacht Marco Polo in 2007. The yacht is currently for sale with Camper and Nicholsons.

CL Yachts’ Hans Lo, one of the fifth generation of the Lo family that owns and operates Cheoy Lee, as said that CL Yachts benefits from Cheoy Lee’s commercial vessel operations, as it ensures boats that are easy to maintain and last a long time, in keeping with commercial needs. Speaking of CL Yachts’ recent CLB88 launch, Jonathan Cannon, senior sales manager for CL Yachts and a naval architect, said “we design our yachts from the engine room out.”

The new CLX96 thus promises Cheoy Lee’s trademark sturdy design and engineering focus, with contemporary styling.
