The eagerly awaited new “Sea Activity Vehicle” marks a major milestone for the yard.
CL Yachts has announced that its new CLX96 Sea Activity Vessel (SAV) will launch in a matter of weeks. Painting on the pilothouse and flybridge is now complete and CL Yachts says its team is moving to complete the main deck and hull paintwork before the yacht is launched and undergoes sea trials.
“It’s all coming together on CLX96 and it will be beautiful when the yacht is completed,” said Martin Lo, CL Yachts Director. “The realisation of the designer’s vision is on track, and we are extremely proud of what is being achieved with our very first SAV.”
Designed by Milan-based Jozeph Forakis, CLX96 provides a “modern take on rugged luxury”. CL Yachts says the new yacht will be a perfect fit for those with a spirit of adventure, a need for functionality, a taste for comfort, and a sense of style. The yacht features a RINA hull construction certificate.
Among the new technologies being included on the first CLX96 is a virtual skylight in the VIP suite.
Having already received recognition with a GOOD DESIGN Award and a Bronze A Design Award, CLX96 recently won the prestigious prize for Concept Under 40 Meters at the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2021.
“Throughout the significant challenges of the last 18 months, the team has rallied together and found a pathway to building our most complex and exciting yacht to date. We are reaching the final hurdles before CLX96 launches for the first time, and I am looking forward to showing the world the first of our remarkable crossover yachts from this design in the coming months,” said Lo.
The new CLX96 is a major design departure for CL Yachts. It features a Portuguese terrace – a forward-facing lounge area forward of the flybridge helm, a large bow-lounge and an extensively engineered beach club area. The yacht has a projected top speed of 27 knots (at half load) and a range of 550 nautical miles at her cruising speed of 22 knots.
Earlier this year, CL Yachts announced that Camper and Nicholsons had been appointed global agent for CLX96 (except for the US, Canada and South America).
