CLB65 flybridge unveiled by CL Yachts
Hong Kong-based builder reveals details of its new entry-level family cruiser, which is due to launch in late 2021.
CL Yachts, the yacht division of legendary Hong Kong boat builder Cheoy Lee, has revealed details of its new CLB65 flybridge model, which is set to launch in late 2021.
The entry-level family cruiser has been designed by veteran naval architect Howard Apollonio and leading marine structural engineers Gurit. The design features an aft-galley and lounge with sliding doors and opening salon windows, and three large staterooms below deck, plus one convertible crew room.
The large flybridge has two helm seats on the starboard side, with a U-shaped lounge to port. An outdoor galley and bar are found aft, with a sofa and table.
Exterior design and layout was completed in-house, with interior design by Interiors by Carmen, who also designed the CLB72.
The first CLB65 is to be configured with twin Volvo IPS1050 pods, electric fin stabilisers and a ‘C Zone’ monitoring system that oversees tankage, major boat functions, and integrated navigation electronics, and can be accessed remotely. A resin-infused composite hull offers a high strength-to-weight ratio.
The CLB65 will feature RINA Hull Certification and can be CE certified.
CL Yachts was established in 2018, marking a return to yacht building for Cheoy Lee, which built sailing yachts popular in Hong Kong during the 1960s and 70s. Though the yard has become more focused on commercial boat building, Cheoy Lee built expedition yachts, most notably the 45-metre expedition yacht Marco Polo in 2006. The yard launched its Alpha 76 in 2011.
In November 2020, CL Yachts revealed renderings of its new CLX96, described as a “Sea Activity Vehicle”, playing on the “SUV” moniker used for one of the world’s most popular car types.
