CLX96 Prepares for Sea Trials

CL Yachts says its first Sea Activity Vessel is en route to Florida now.

CL Yachts says the CLX96—the brand’s first Sea Activity Vessel, or SAV—is en route across the Pacific Ocean, bound for the Panama Canal and then Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Plans are for a group of potential owners to do sea trials in Florida this summer before the CLX96 makes its official debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in the fall.

Lines on the CLX96 are by Italy-based designer Jozeph Forakis, with some design cues taken from workboats. There’s a two-level deckhouse and an inverted windshield. The latter has two functions: to clear rough water faster than traditionally raked windshield and to help keep the yacht’s interior cool by reducing any greenhouse effect from overhanging glass.

According to CL Yachts, the new model can achieve 24 to 25 knots of speed at full load.

It’s already an award-winning design: The CLX96 has won a Good Design Award 2020, a Bronze A’ Design Award 2021 and an International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2021.
