CL Yachts Unveils New CLX99 Flagship

CL Yachts just announced that it’s building a new flagship CLX99, a larger, updated and more versatile version of the 96 it introduced at the Fort Lauderdale show in 2022.

Martin Lo, CL Yachts director, said the new CLX99 is built on the same hull as the 96, but it has more interior volume, more external space and many new design features. It also offers new choices in layout aimed at potential owners in Asia and Europe, as well as the secondary charter market.

Like the 96, the CLX99 was designed by Jozeph Forakis, a multi-talented, award-winning designer with offices in Milan and New York. He says the 99’s interior was inspired by the curves found in coastlines. “The leitmotif of CLX99’s interiors is the rounded and smooth lines that characterize all the furnishings, evoking pebble beaches with their smooth stones, both in shape and in the choice of materials.”

The main deck is six feet longer than the 96, and it’s reorganized, with a large dining area forward next to the galley, and an observation lounge all the way forward. The lower deck is also redesigned, with five staterooms, including a full-beam master, two VIP double staterooms forward, and two more guest cabins, all with en suite heads. An owner can opt to have the master stateroom on the main deck, instead of the forward dining and observation lounge area.

In a nod to the potential charter market, the crew quarters, large enough for five people, is situated between the forward end of the engine room and the aft bulkhead of the master stateroom. This location also helps insulate the master stateroom from any engine noise.

Up top, the CLX99 holds a sundeck, skylounge and flybridge helm, with a centerpiece of the “Terrazza Portoghese” of the 96, an expansive seating and sunning area forward of the bridge that serves as a second, elevated bow terrace. (The bow terrace in the foredeck is large enough for an optional spa pool.) The forward bulkhead there has a large glass area for panoramic views. And the area behind the raked windshield on the skylounge is extended by 20 feet, with opening windows, a service bar aft, and a sundeck for al fresco entertaining.

A new aft sundeck has more seating and leads down to the swim platform at water level that has new drop-down side bulwarks to create a beach-terrace effect there.

The CL Yachts lineup now stretches from 65 to 99 feet. CL Yachts was created in 2018 as the luxury brand from Cheoy Lee. The yachts are made at the more than a century old Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Zhuhai, China.
